App: The Editor (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

Introduction

"The Editor" (the "App") is a note-taking app for iPhone, iPad and Mac in which each note can be written as plain text or Markdown.

Through the App, the developer collects no personal information, no note content, and no usage data. Your notes are stored only on your devices and in your own iCloud.

1. Information we collect

None.

The developer does not collect or record any of the following:

The App has no account registration and never asks you to sign in.

2. Network communication

The App communicates only in these two cases:

The developer operates no servers, and the App never sends data to the developer. Links in your notes open in your device's browser.

3. Where notes are stored

Notes are stored only on your devices and in your own iCloud. Deleting the App removes the data on that device. Data left in iCloud can be deleted from Settings → your name → iCloud → Storage on iPhone and iPad, or System Settings → your name → iCloud on Mac.

4. On-device AI (all processing happens on the device)

On devices that support Apple Intelligence, with it turned on, the App uses the AI built into the device (Apple's Foundation Models) to create titles and summaries, format notes as Markdown, suggest tags, answer questions about your notes, and search by sentence.

5. Files (Mac, iPhone, iPad)

6. Permissions

Notifications (iPhone and iPad only)

Used to remind you on the day before and the morning of yearly dates (birthdays, anniversaries) you add to "いつだっけ". Notifications are scheduled on the device; no external server is used. The App asks for permission when the first such date exists. Everything else works without it, and you can turn reminders off in the App's settings (「いつだっけの通知」).

Permissions the App does not request

Location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendars, App Tracking Transparency.

7. Settings stored in the App

The App stores the following on the device only (UserDefaults). It is never sent anywhere and is removed when you delete the App.

On Mac, the list of recently opened files is recorded on the device by the standard macOS mechanism (clear it with File > Open Recent > Clear Menu).

8. Ads, analytics and third parties

9. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at any particular age group, and because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.

10. Your rights

The developer holds no personal data, so there is nothing for the developer to disclose, correct or delete. You can delete data on your device by deleting the App, and data in iCloud by following section 3, at any time.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, for example when features are added, we will update this page and its date. Material changes in how data is handled will also be announced in the App's release notes.
